To celebrate spring and the milestone of over 300 followers to Ancient Hearth, I wanted to give away a beautiful Waldorf inspired wall hanging. Handmade using wool roving and lovingly needle felted by me, this hanging is approximately 9" x 12" and can be hung on a wall using the hemp twine attached to it. Would make a lovely addition to a bedroom, school room, or class room.
The Sun Maiden holds a bouquet of spring flowers as she travels through the meadows bringing light and life to the land. A nest of three eggs sits above her head in the tree as wispy clouds drift by and the gentle breeze blows.

Oh how I would love this beautiful needle felted hanging.. what a wonderful way to celebrate Spring!!
ReplyDeleteI was first drawn into waldorf by their natural toys,(we weren't always a natural toy lover but we saw how the glory of the flashy plastic toys lost their spark of interest, but you put some natural toys and materials around the house and it's amazing what they can turn into in a child's imagination!!.. I love watching and listening to the magic come alive.
Many thanks
Jenn
Lovely! I love the nest in the tree. The big attraction for me is the emphasis on handwork, for sure! nancywalters44@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteHi Jen:
ReplyDeleteYour wall hanging is beautiful. I am new to your blog and to Waldorf. My daughter will enter kindergarten at a Waldorf-methods charter school in the fall. I love the gentleness of the approach, the attention to natural rhythms, and the gorgeous handwork that is so highly valued. Thank you for sharing this beautiful example of just that with all of us!

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Jen, you are an inspiration! I guess one of the things I love about Waldorf ed is that is feels so good. The work is so satisfying, like a good bowl of a simple soup with homegrown vegetables, it takes some effort and daily tending, yet it nourishes us to the core of our being and their is always soup enough for everyone in the pot. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI think what I love most about Waldorf is the connection with nature and the seasons. I really love that there is a rhythm that is honored.
